Buzz word? What's that? Explain it clearly, please. Seems to me that buzz word is a buzz word. By that I mean a word that presumes a definition that is never given. It's a pointing word, like an arrow. It basically says. "the definition is over there, somewhere" > > But how can it be tested ? > > As I see so many traditional genres categorically excluded > from the walls of > contemporary museums -- I think several tests have been > failed. It is at least thrice removed. Not a good test. Once removed is the artist, twice removed is the artist's studio or selection for view, thrice removed is the official venue -- the gallery or museum. In fact, the museum is usually the fifth state of removal -- and thus the judgment is more contaminated by biased opinion -- for after smewhere between the artist's studio and the museum there is the collector, followed by the curator. Each stage in the process is indebted to the former. More and more the museum is not at all about art as such as it is about collectors' bets in the art market. Nothing surprising there.
