If consider art a 'soul' of society and science and technology a 'body'... both are necessary for it to function, but it is amazing how qualitative destruction of values in arts leads to destruction of economy. It is cliche, but old Rome should be mentioned. So the state of the arts (in broadest sense) is the most important indicator of the societies overall health. Boris Shoshensky
