Heidegger assumes that it is not possible for the mind to perceive the 
reality of anything except as an idea or concept and that reason is not able to 
find a method of perceiving reality,that it is not possible to realize the 
primary existence of either the painting or the shoes. Doesn't this box him in 
pretty thoroughly to a series or set of concepts which he has either found or 
invented himself, and which may have a doubtful connection to either primary 
existence(shoes, painting)?
