This is important point by Saul. To scratch the surface  of Reality or Truth,
which is the absolute Abstraction, is impossible without using
representational symbols as in this case are shoes or temples with some
elements of metaphor.
Literal approach is deadly in philosophy.

Your being to literal - For Heidegger  the truth lies in  his construct as
stimulated and informed by the art work. All the ideas
 he  associates with it  - including one that has an
ominous tone of national socialism is the work (labor) of art - for  these
tell  him about himself , his concern is for how the ways in which the temple
is constructed stimulates  certain thoughts - is an object of mediation and
perhaps meditation  in other words   - the Truth of/ in art is what it tells
us about our sense of self and its reality - for art is the object of our
meditation  on what might come to be known - revealed
