Don't brush away the pile leaves if they're on the floor of an art gallery, and instead, try to relate them to canonical art history and its various issues. So, we might say that Saul wants to participate in the dynamic process of historical/cultural/intellectual change, while Michael just wants to do and think what he is supposed to. Saul is the perpetual revolutionary, Michael is the perpetual school boy.
