Chinese culture has been Viagra-ized at least since the Ming dynasty, and the
subject has often been addressed by literature.

In "Golden Lotus" (17th C.) the protagonist sef medicates until, at the end of
the novel, his lover gives him an extra dose, and he dies when his penis
explodes.

In "The Carnal Prayer Mat (same era) the protagonist has surgery to implant
the penis of a dog, after which he becomes very popular with the ladies, but
eventually
becomes ashamed of his behavior and has it removed.

And ever since, much to the dismay of those concerned with bio-diversity, it
seems that every rare species on the planet is driven to extinction by the
Chinese market for potency enhancements.

So it's about time European philosophy has finally begun to study this
important phenomenon.
