Nothing has intrinsic value except life because it sustains itself through 
natural selection.  Objects are just their material elements.  Values and uses 
are applied to them.  Values and uses become 'intrinsic ' in that way but in 
fact they are not intrinsic, but extrinsic.  I do agree that our society does 
conflate what are erroneously called intrinsic values (that are really 
extrinsic 
and applied honorific values) and market values.  Market values are not the 
only 
extrinsic values for objects.
