And how is 'sober, responsible, cautious, different from playful, rebellious,
immature? There are many instances when one can be cautiously playful or
soberly immature or responsibly rebellious, and so on through all the
permutations. The terms are not inherently opposite and that makes the
pretentous quotation specious and silly, more an attempt at verbal stagecraft
than an effort to speak wisdom.

I'll say it again: I detest these silly quotations chosen by Berg. They are
so irresponsibly incautious.

Subject: Is it time for art to become more sober, responsible, and cautious?

- Humanity has advanced, when it has advanced, not because it has been
sober, responsible, and cautious, but because it has been playful,
rebellious, and immature.
