Yes, much art has become identical with luxury goods. I think art criticism has 
also abandoned the critical discourse on art.  Now  critics merely list names 
of 
artists and nod warmly to galleries, curators and collectors instead of 
discussing art ideas.  They've been co-opted along with the artists.
