TheAssociate Curator/Curator (title commensurate with experience) willparticipate in research, development and active management of theCollection; initiation of collection displays, major special exhibitions,publications and interpretation; and participation in all activities of theDepartment. Primary responsibilities and duties:Participation in review of Collection; Participation in devising departmental collection and researchstrategies, and delivering them; Initiation and organization of collection displays and specialexhibitions including research, catalog entries, other texts anddatabase maintenance; Fostering and maintaining good working relationships with donors,patrons, collectors, colleagues from other international institutions, thescholarly community, dealers, and other individuals involved with theinterests of the Museum; Author and essayist for general and specialized publications and othercontent, printed and online; Answering correspondence relating to Collection; assisting the publicand visiting scholars; Contribution to public programs (Learning, Volunteers); Interaction with potential sponsors; fundraising asappropriate; Involvement in planning programs for Modern and Contemporary patrons'groups and Visiting Committee. Requirements and qualifications Experienceand skills:Minimum six years experience in a museum or academicinstitution; Demonstrated engagement with artistic practice across theworld; Demonstrated scholarly achievement including evidence of originalresearch; Demonstrated commitment to broad international engagement andlearning; Conceived and executed major contemporary loan exhibitions with broadinternational scope; Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with artists, museumcolleagues, donors and general public; Ability to undertake creation and maintain care of precise and widelyresearched records. Knowledge and education:PhD (or equivalent) in history of art; Deep expertise in twentieth and twenty-first century art; Extensive background in international modern and contemporaryculture; Good written and spoken English; Working knowledge of at least one other European OR non-Europeanlanguage.
