"Otwock" is a project revolving around a place perceived through
thelens of art.

The place has a twofold meaning. It refers to thehometown of the
sculptor MirosEaw BaEka and of his childhood home, whichhe has turned
into a studio. The studio triggered a reflection on therelationship
between art and the space in which it is made. The town hasbecome an
expanded space of work.

"Otwock" is an attempt atcreating a subjective description of the
place. Invited artists, curatorsand writers work with the found
context, which is suspended between historyand presence, between
personal and official narratives, between the publicand private sphere,
between the changing functions of space.

Themethod which has been adopted is best described by the notions of
sitespecific and site responsive. The works, the elusive
artisticgestures, the texts or events uncover new layers of meanings.
They form aloose grid of associations and connections. By mutually
complementing eachother, they establish questions and proposals leading
to changinginterpretations and new ways of approaching the local.

Theartists who have thus far worked in "Otwock" include Lara
Almarcegui,Tacita Dean, Anna Molska, Charlotte Moth and Luc Tuymans.

The introduction to the project will take place on 20 October 2012,at
18.30 at Stacja Falenica Cinema & CafC), and will includepresentations
