Her greatest strength is that she "becomes" the person she is playing. The trouble is that fools the movie watched into believing she is that person as opposed to the person she actually is.

Not unlike Kevin Spacey.

For me, the instinct to not watch Streep has to do with some fake news that greatly harmed apple growers. Not sure is she ever apologized.  Kinda her Hanoi Jane moment.

I will never watch anything with meryl streep. But I'd snatch the man card out of anybodies hand who doesn't like ABBA. That's just good damned music and and man who claims otherwise is closeted and over compensating

Coming of age in the 70s, I really liked ABBA.  I still do.
Have seen Mama Mia on Broadway or Vegas or other venues about 7 times.
Makes me feel good.
 
The first movie was OK, except they should have dubbed 007’s singing and Meryl Streep was too old.
They should have had the Ab Fab women play two of the three main players. 
But overall they did a good job replicating the play.
 
New movie... meh.  My wife liked it.  It attempted to tell the back story.
Glad MoviePass is still in business.
 
Some songs I have never heard, not sure if they were new creations or just ABBA stuff that was not that well known.
The addition of Cher seemed silly and really did nothing for the story. 
 
The actress (Lily James) playing the young Meryl Streep is fantastic. 
I thought she was the cell phone commercial girl, looks similar.
I don’t recognize any of her IMDB filmography entries.
