CAT6 series products are 100% gas discharge tube designs. So they are a bit slower than the GIGE solid state/hybrid designs, but they still supply great protection.

They are less likely to blow in a condition that requires them to be replaced. Great for tower tops.

I would use them for hard to get to places and on Cambium equipment as it has something really touchy going on with its GIGE ethernet ports. Sometimes they run with CRC and frame check errors with nothing more than perfect Cat 5. We find the GIGE series sometimes will aggravate this problem where the CAT6 does not seem to bother Cambium.

Subject: [AFMUG] WBH-GIGE-SS-HV and 800-CAT6-GIGE-SS

Hi,

What are some of the key differences between the WBH-GIGE-SS-HV and
800-CAT6-GIGE-SSsurge suppressor models?

Does anyone have these installed and working with the Proxim Tsunami MP
series?

Is the 800-CAT6-GIGE-SS just a replacement or upgrade for the GIGE-SS-HV
model?

Regards,

Lincoln
