The surge from this with Cat 4+ winds were devastating. The areas that
were swept clean are huge. But the loss of life was much minimized
probably because of the scare that those prior hurricanes put into
people. It somewhat doesn't look as bad because such huge areas are
just blank ground now. Wait till the before/after pictures start
showing up to get a better perspective on how bad the damage is. Kind
of like the volcanic flow on the big island. Its "wow that's a lot of
lava" until you see the before pictures and see how many homes are just
gone...

hurricane is the worst in 50 years. But last year in PR and the one to
hit New Orleans a few years back seem like they were much worse than
what we are seeing in the press today.
