They probably realized they would have to raise the USF contribution rate to
500% to have enough subsidy money to pay the telcos to run fiber to every
house.  Whereas with 5G, they can just do a Jedi mind trick and pretend
rural areas suddenly have broadband, without all that pesky infrastructure
spending.

But if you're still laying fiber, you must be a dinosaur.  Probably going
shopping later at Sears or Radio Shack or Barnes and Noble.  You really need
to stay current with the latest shiny object.

I guess I shouldn't complain.  At least now WISPs are winning some subsidy
money when the telcos turn it down.  Once you say fixed wireless is
equivalent to wired, it gets harder to deny funding to WISPs with the old
"slow, unreliable, doesn't work in bad weather, etc." claims.

We can put in 14 microducts at one time with this.  1500 feet/hour in good
