In our earlier network we deployed FTC11 inside plastic NIDs. Works well. It's an unmanaged device. In 4 years I don't think we could have prevented a single service call by being able to log into the media converter. It might give you a hint as to what's wrong but a tech still has to go fix it. We have around 175 customers installed this way before we switched to GPON.
