I will give them credit for standardizing the tools you need for assembly and
installation, if you have a 13mm wrench and a 5mm hex key you’re probably good
to go. I think stuff with ground screws maybe takes a 10mm wrench.

Of course I got eye rolls from installers when I told them they’d need a hex
key. A METRIC hex key. And you really need a bit for your cordless drill
unless you’ve got all day.

+1 to this, make them do it in real life/practice. If it is tower gear, make
them wear a harness and do it a couple feet above ground. Ideally put a big
ass fan and some water behind it.

Set them in the sun for a little bit? I haven't noticed any more problem than
usual snapping them on a Force200 in below freezing weather. Although the last
one I did actually broke off one of the clips when it snapped on. Just pray
you never have to take one off....

I think you have to remember that the designers of the equipment have never
actually set foot outside the office. Everything assembles fine when it's done
with all parts individually lined up on a conference table in a 72 degree room.
All companies should make the design engineering team assemble all equipment
on the tailgate of a pickup in a 20mph wind at 15 degrees, and I guarantee that
it will be redesigned.

I’m getting tired of struggling to install the radomes on PMP450b high gain
dishes, I think it’s the same radome as the ePMP Force 200. I’ve had to resort
to hammers and heat guns. I don’t remember them being this difficult at first,
maybe they shrink or get stiff sitting in the distribution warehouse, or maybe
before I was doing it in August or something. Usually the biggest problem is
the next to last tab.

I don’t want to make it the installers problem because then I know I will start
seeing dishes on houses with no radome, and a pile of radomes in the truck. I
want the radome for windload, appearance, and snow resistance.

Is there some kind of trick that someone has found to installing these devils?
