It was easier back when web pages were optimized for 1024x768. Now they have to be dynamic and there isn't as much demand for printed web pages as there was back then.
Luckily the web browsers are all open source now so you can just fork one and fix the problem :-) Or use Firefox Quantum. It has a nice built-in screenshot tool under the three dots in the address bar.
