On this topic, has anybody used Open Connect architecture switches?
I have a guy pitching the idea at me. He claims most switches are actually manufactured by the same couple of OEM's in Taiwan. The idea is you buy the bare metal and then license a Linux software to run on the hardware. The actual switching happens in ASIC's so the software is just for config and management, and there are several options to pick from. Part of the pitch is single pane of glass management.

You could have gotten your Cisco switches for 1/2 off from Huawei. bp <part15sbs{at}gmail{dot}com> On 5/14/2019 11:50 AM, Sterling Jacobson wrote:Had I started now I probably would have just purchased the Cisco switches available instead of F10, but I don’t think they were available back when I started purchasing those.
