One option is to top them off with distilled water and try charging them and see what you get. The other (and probably better) is to drain them, dispose of the battery acid, and refill them with new electrolyte. Depending on what happened to them previously they may be fine or just a bunch of heavy junk. If nothing else the lead in them is worth money.
