No, same thing. When Verizon started doing FTTH they liked the Corning OptiTap system but refused the vendor locking and required Corning to license the product to other manufactures so that Verizon wasn’t locked into a single source.
They should be interchangable - though I have not personally tried it. Commscope also makes a test cable, or you could order a short drop cable with a bare SC (either UPC or APC) for this.
