Hmmm, don’t recall hearing the term before.  Never did understand how they got 
the circuit from the hole in the glass where the anode wires connect to the 
inside of the CRT.  I guess the same way they got the pins in the back to come 
through the glass.

Nope, that’s the correct term.  It’s the conductive coating on the inside of 
the CRT.  Some kind of spray-on graphite.

Yeahbut, they all did it, especially the color TVs.  I presume aquadag is 
autocorrect for Anode.

The aquadag HV on early TVs was a common source of problems. Get a little dust 
on the top of the TV's cathode tube, and you'd get these periodic "snap!" 
sounds when it would discharge through the dust.
