On the touch pad/mouse thing: Logitech mice at least used to have a special driver/software that allowed you to independent of windows reassign any of the mice buttons to any function. Not sure which mouse you are using but you might want to look into that. I'm guessing that this is still a feature available in some mice from some vendors.
