The next problem is a candidate has to be smart about everything. If
they grill Chuck McCown about US relations with Uzbekistan I'd be he's
not up to date on that, and then they'd publish an op-ed about how ill
informed he is. Half the magic is being able to say "I don't know" in a
way that sounds like you really do know.
It's also /imperative/ that your agenda include only things that the
office of the president is not actually empowered to do. Then you can
blame congress for everything you can't achieve.
(and to be clear, this complaint applies to every president in my lifetime).
