I almost had myself convinced that train made sense.

 

Yeah, catwalks on water tanks have the same problem, except it’s pigeon poop.  
Buzzard poop sounds worse.

It is common on towers with horizontal braces. Most commonly used to increase 
resistance to twisting. Usually called wind bracing. Buzzards don't like 
sitting with their feet off kilter.

 

It is the worst when you have to climb the tower shortly after a train. All 
that buzzard poop gets slick and smelly.
