Problem with an app is that you have to get everyone with scales to connect etc. I can imagine a lot of places with scales don’t have an internet connection.
Wondering if something like an RFID system couldn’t be set up. Data written to the tag, law enforcement needs to know the info they can just scan it. What do those in cab systems do that you see in the DOT checkpoints? Can you just use that system? Drivers won’t have it turned on, crappy phones won’t connect to it etc. I like the taking the picture of the monitor especially if the monitor is displaying a QR code. Weight would be there, truck number and a QR code link to the official ticket record if they really need it. Put up a big enough monitor so the driver can take the picture right from the cab. Wondering if the electronic log systems could not have a camera installed to take the picture or scan the QR code and have it automatically entered in to their logs. The same camera could be used and left running as a dash cam as well in case there are ever any accidents. If a driver gets stopped by the highway patrol, if they have a scale ticket that is fairly fresh they will not have their weight questioned. So while not a legal requirement to have a scale ticket it is good to have one. But if you are making lots of trips each day the papers build up. Like to make it easy to just zap the info to something on the drivers’ phone. The UHP said they would be fine with something on the phone.
