I am guessing it is adding them together.  

Yep, I just converted them to milliwatts, added them and converted back.  
-53.46 is what I got.  So they are rounding a bit different than I would but 
this is truly a sum of the energy from both polarizations.

It's not an average of both the V/H signals, so what are these values supposed 
to mean?
