So then why don’t cambium subscriber units allow higher power uplink powers 
from the subscriber? They appear locked as if they were an AP.

Was looking over the Part 15 rules. 

What is it that would cause a subscriber unit in a PtMP system to not be 
considered PtP when returning to the tower? 

“ However, fixed point-to-point U-NII devices operating in this band may employ 
transmitting antennas with directional gain greater than 6 dBi without any 
corresponding reduction in transmitter conducted power.” 


A subscriber unit, unless it’s some kind of relay, is a PtP device.
