IMHO the choice probably comes down to possible future capabilities that are
impossible to evaluate unless you have a time machine.

Federated and Commscope are fine companies with a history in the microwave and
spectrum businesses, and Google is a fine company that should know how to build
a robust cloud based service. I'm not entirely sure why Google wanted to be in
the SAS business, but you could ask that about every venture they have gotten
into. Some of us may have some not entirely objective feelings about Google,
like entrusting your data to them, or their tendency to shut down some of their
ventures, or on the positive side their immense resources and understanding of
reliable cloud services. You either love or hate the big tech companies.

We flipped a coin and chose Federated, maybe because they had the longest time
working with Cambium through the beta process. One of the outages was
apparently because they didn't adequately size server resources for a certain
scenario where a whole bunch of CBSDs needed to get back online at once, I may
not be remembering that exactly right, but your could argue Google would not
have made mistake. On the other hand, if they are using something like AWS,
it's pretty easy to ramp up your server resources these days.

The scary thing perhaps is that it's not just a push of the button to move from
one SAS to another (maybe that will change). So if one of the SAS vendors
turns out to be significantly inferior, or drops out, it could be a bunch of
work to move all your CBSDs over.

My impression that CBRS is going to be a wild ride, no matter what radio or SAS
vendor you choose. It's pretty complicated. I'd like to think the complexity
will dissuade the mobile carriers from using it even (if they buy all the PALs)
except where they run out of other mid band spectrum, but I'm probably
dreaming. It's like hoping Cookie Monster won't eat all the cookies.

They've both had a couple of outages already.....hopefully that gets better in
the long term. What benefits are there of picking one over the other? And I
guess I should wonder if anyone's investigated Commscope yet.
