My mind is blown when Hughes gets CAF awards.
They didn't count when eligibility was determined, but they count when
someone wants to claim they built broadband somewhere. I recall
building fiber with NY State funding where one side of the street was in
our fiber project census block and the other side of the road was in a
Hughesnet CAF block. NY wouldn't fund the CAF eligible blocks with
their program. People on "our" side of the road had the drop cable
subsidized and people on the "Hughes" side of the road
didn't....needless to say anyone who noticed these details was annoyed.
And yeah, I've noted that some of the exact same census blocks where
Hughesnet got CAF awards are now eligible for RUS ReConnect. I don't
know about HUD unfortunately.
