It's not well known, but the 820c supports 4x4 MIMO. Two 820c radios, vertically separated on separate antennas, can transmit/receive on the same channel pairs. You are correct that a single 820c radio, on its own does MIMO. In this case it's 2x2 MIMO aka XPIC.
