I don't know that it "died", but it's definitely on life support. Catholic 
priests seem to speak it a lot (I say "seem" because it's not my language, but 
they're not speaking English).

Plus Latin has been incorporated into many other languages in parts. All the 
Latin languages, of course (Spanish, Italian, even French), plus English. In 
bottany and taxonomy Latin is the goto language for naming everything.

So it's not so much dead as not spoken. It lives in many other languages like 
chocolate chips live in chocolate chip cookies.

That's why ghosts say "Boo!"  It's "I AM CRYING ALOUD" but said with a single 
word.

....at least that's one theory.
