I remember people would get so confused talking to her they would leave their hat behind, and she would calmly pin a label with their name to it and place it on a shelf in the hall closet with all the other labeled hats.
Whenever you're watching a TV comedy where a character has a totally wacko take on something that nonetheless makes total sense and all the other characters start to doubt their own sanity, it is derivative of Gracie Allen.
