When two photons have been "entangled" you can flip the spin on one and
the other photon flips. So if the photons are messed with you know the
security has been compromised. Not about the comms, it's about the
security..

but why not just use the laser to transmit?
Until we can have a "box of photons" sitting in a data center and a
"box of photons" sitting at a remote location and beam data - I don't
see the point.
