Should have said Jesuchrito instead of the foreshortened Jesu which is actually latin.
When we called him Jesus, he interpreted us as saying Jesuchristo. And I guess that is what we thought we were saying too. We did not know that there was a Hey Sus form of the common name. It was a goofy novelty to us. A regular person called Jesus. Who names their kid after diety?!? He did not like that. Of course that was fodder for us to continue to call him that. We were a backward bunch of rednecks in rural Oregon. We caused several new teachers to quit part way through their first year of teaching.
