So we run an openfire server for staff messaging. We used to use a spark client, but we ran into issues with multiple logins between staff PCs and cellphones. Spark would only update on whichever machine was last used So if I went from my desktop to my laptop the messages weent on the laptop. Effectively worked like POP vs IMAP. Presence also was never correct, the phone client would make everyone alwars show online.
We moved to using Trillian for the client, which resolved that, effectively all the clients connected to trillian, which then connected back to openfire. Something has changed, I think its licensing. I have the perpetual pro license for my client so everything works as expected for me, but other staff on the free tier are suffering disconnects to the openfire server and the chat history doesnt follow. looking at their plans chat history is a paid option only now. I prefer to keep openfire because I like the plugins. I really dont want to move to slack because the client is heavy and it doesnt really do what i want, IMs the way I am accustomed to. is there a client that works well across platforms for openfire?
