Well, no, it has an AC chipset instead of N, so it has some advantages over the 2000 (some disadvantages too, which you pointed out). It works well for APs that you don't expect to have a large number of SMs, or major noise issues, and it can be a nice drop in replacement for the 1000 without having to deal with replacing antennas and whatnot.
