Correct. DMZ does not break the Internet access for all other devices.

Forwarding ports 1 through 65535 to a single device as suggested by some insane people at Nintendo and Ubiquiti will break the Internet for all other devices.

DMZ does not break the internet access for all other devices behind the NAT. DMZ ip is where the unsolicited packets will be forward. Solicited packets with a matching NAT state will be forwarded on to the original host.

Except DMZ only forwards the ports not being used for other
    connections.

This breaks the Internet for all devices except the one you
    forwarded ports to.

Isn't that basically the same thing a DMZ does?

Oddly enough here's "UI-Team" on the Ubiquiti forum proposing
the same thing as a solution for a "DMZ"

        Insane.

Agreed, but apparently doesn't work when the router is a

I'm more amused at Nintendo's suggestion.  One of our tech
support guys actually tried it and it broke the customer's
internet on all devices that weren't the switch.

Consoles should never need port forwarding. Enable UPnP on
