None of the new outlets are covering this right. 1. This is not share your wifi out, devices that connect to this network will not access to the devices on your lan 2. This really does not affect ISP terms of services as it is not sharing your internet connection 3. This is low bandwidth not meant for streaming multimedia 4. It is 900mhz based 5. Traffic from a sidewalk client is encrypted by the client then send to the echo device with another layer of encryption 6. The echo device will take the packet from the 900hmz network while still encrypted by the client and send it to amazon over ssl 7. amazon will then pass the packet to the service that the device is connecting to. No one along the way got to see what is in the packet as it is end to end encrypted
I am not sure what the homeowners gets out of this system. It is clear that amazon now gets a cell phone like network without having to pay for bandwidth, power, rf spectrum or tower space.
