Today I was turning left out of our shop driveway. Left turn into a 4 lane
highway with a merge/turning lane in the center. You almost always have to
shoot a gap in the near lanes and get into the turning lane and then look for a
gap in the same direction you are wanting to go.
I found a gap on my side, turned left into the turning lane then looked for a
gap to merge right into travel lanes.
Quite a way back was a $75K pickup with obviously a chip etc. Lift kit etc.
He decided I would not merge in front of him. I saw him hit the gas and start
rolling coal.
I drive an electric car. He did not gain on me. Slipped right in. So he
decided that he would go to the right lane (2 lane freeway onramp coming up)
and pass me. Nope, merged right and shot out ahead. So he went left. With
lights flashing. Nope.
I just stood on it and increased the distance. Merged left onto the freeway
just fine. He was back a bit in the left lane.
So I went to the left land out of onyrness. Saw him rolling coal, still
increased the gap on him.
But road construction was coming up. I let off and he pulled right and passed
me at a pretty slow closing speed. Hand out, finger flying.
My wife was sure I was about to get shot, but man that was the most fun I had
for a long time.
Old white dude in a little car going beep beep beep blew his doors off. Hope
his girlfriend was riding with him.
Don’t get thrills much any more but that was FUN!
