All of the DNA services will present you pie-charts concerning your ethnicity.

YSEQ.net does primarily whole genome DNA research.  These guys are probably the best resource for finding everything you ever wanted to know about yourself and your family genetics including what drugs may harm you and genetic diseases mom didn't tell you about.  They are located in Germany.  If you are building a family tree, they don't offer that service at this time.

23andme.com does mostly DNA related health stuff and genetic history.  They will tell you fairly extensively what your ethnic history is and drug allergies.  Crappy family tree services available.

Ancestry.com does DNA genetic history, health is extra, extensive genetic studies on your ethnicity.  Very good family tree building services.  They combine DNA matching with the family tree building including extensive family and historical records.  You can upload the DNA file you get here to FTDNA and MyHeritage services.

MyHeritage.com same as the above DNA services, fairly good at ethnicity history & family tree building.

FTDNA does Autosomal (the normal DNA test) good for family history and ethnicity.  extra fee:They also do "Y" DNA (good for Paternal history to thousands of years. (Your father's father's father).  Extra fee: Mitochondrial DNA good for maternal history for thousands of years (mother's mother's mother).  And they have a limited family tree service.  What they excel at are family surnames researching "haplo-groups" associated with names.

FamilySearch (the mormons) use death records and other mormons trees so if your mom was just a one night fling your "familySearch" tree isn't going to be correct.  DNA testing can show anomalies like "one-night-stands".

If you want to know your ethnicity and general DNA, etc... go with either YSEQ or 23&me.  They will give you a rundown on everything you ever wanted to know about you and drugs you should avoid and health issues you have to look forward to.

If you want to find your ancestors and traceable records use ancestry.com and upload the raw dna data file to the other services that will accept it.
