If you had one under the hammer, and you banged the hammer on something, it would go off. I have heard of rounds going off 30 seconds after pulling a trigger. Hunter safety courses back in grade school talked about this a bunch. Lay the gun down if it misfires like this and walk a way. So if someone banged the hammer on something, handed it to you, the gun could go off on its own a few seconds later.
