Happy and Biff and Willy.  I had to write a new ending in high school as part 
of an English assignment.  I had a friend of the boys kill their mom.  Don’t 
remember many other details.  
Not the best story I ever read.  
Neither were all the Steinbeck novels.  All of them are 100% downers.  
Catcher in the Rye?  Diagnostic tool.  If you identify with Holden, then they 
should keep an eye on you because now a days you might come and shoot up the 
school.
