I’ve been using an Otterbox Commuter. It’s not as robust as a Defender, but good for the more mundane mishaps, and lighter and more wieldy. My phone is around 5 years old, and I’m positive I would have broken it by now without the case.
If I was still going on poles or rooftops I’d probably use the Defender too. It's survived multiple drops from 20'+ onto concrete, and today I accidentally left it on the hood of the van when I left a job site. Found it in the ditch a mile down the road intact. It's definitely paid for itself. I'm not purposely flippant with my phone, I usually keep a phone for 5 or so years before upgrading, but accidents happen, and this is the best case I've ever had. And sometimes it's important to shout out successes, and not just gripe about failures.
