Abstract that one level to stock and the stock market. Who lost money
in the above scenario? One could argue the customers did but they got
fair value for their service, right?
If I invest in your company via a direct paid-in-capital or by buying
debentures or by buying stock it is still an investment. Hopefully
the company will be worth more when I sell my ownership interest.
When I sell for more than I paid, who lost? The new owner of the
stock got fair value.
