Plus people will argue over which is best, to connect the shields at both
ends or just one end. So if Matt really likes the shielded cable, maybe a
shielded plug at the POE end and no shield connection at the Mimosa radio is
good?

Shielded cat5 should not have any effect on lightning losses - the induced
currents would go down the ground wire of whatever bigger structure gets
affected before going down the shield of the cat5.

I also see in there pictures the ethernet ports look like there not
shielded? We run shielded cat5 on everything now. Lowered our
lightning losses when we made that switch.
