We have been dicking around with a 10.2 mile link. It was rocket m5 TI on
both end, every single night the link performance went to hell. The
paramters stayed the same full modulation full signal, no fate, etc, just
pretty much wont pass more the an aggregate 30mbps, on either 10 or 20mhz
channels
We are swapping it out anyway with a different system, but for kicks i
replaced the TI on the remote side today, latency was better and until 930
tonite
looking at it, the signal has faded 20db and the calculated distance is
bouncing between
10.2 and 11.8 miles, pretty substantial, we arent side lobed, it was
repeaked today on both side .

Just odd to see it fade with no weather other than cold and an apparent
eclipse today. but the ranging is odd. I know this is a high interference
link, which has always made me suspect something was amiss when the
modulations stayed at full

why would it suddently be rangin a mile and a half different when the only
change was a standard M% rocket on one end instead of the TI

All parts should go together without forcing. You must remember that the
parts you are reassembling were disassembled by you. Therefore, if you
can't get them together again, there must be a reason. By all means, do not
use a hammer. -- IBM maintenance manual, 1925
