Oh, I forgot... So I'm stationed at Great Lakes... near Gurnee, IL. Hour and a half drive home. They give me GreyHound bus tickets... three days. No thanks, I took the suburban commuter train from just outside the base to downtown Chicago, then from downtown Chicago to a 30 minute drive from my house. Cost me like $10 to save three days of travel.

I wanted electrical, but they gave me mechanical. They said none were harder\easier than the others. The week I was to pick subs or carriers is when I was pulled. I hadn't made the decision yet. The nuc guys got special treatment the whole way. We were always getting pulled to the other side of the base for special meetings.
