I like the idea of looking into more MDU type installations and ways to save costs by working together.
For example, we're upgrading to a gig here in order to be able to roll FTTH. It was an act of congress to find someone who would give us a gig. I got a quote today for $5840 or so from windstream I think (yes we are rural) I have negotiated transport through the cable company (yuk) to get to 56 marietta where i'm tying into a WISPA coop. Total monthly should be in the neighborhood of $3600-$3800 when i'm done. Oh, and the sales guy who quoted me $5840 ? He was quite happy to find that quote. Said ATT and even ACC Bus wholesale was around $7000 and change. This isn't up and running yet (it's about six months BEHIND in fact) but talk about some monthly savings. This could tie back into optimizing your expenses and trimming the fat to run a more profitable WISP ? (and thus create more profit for fiber?) ----- Original Message ----- From: timothy steele via Af To: [email protected] Cc: [email protected] Sent: Thursday, November 13, 2014 11:36 PM Subject: Re: [AFMUG] WARNING: Steamy Subject Matter I want to see UBNT & Cambium both announce that they are going to add a fiber port to their higher end radios — Sent from Mailbox On Thu, Nov 13, 2014 at 11:24 PM, Sterling Jacobson via Af <[email protected]> wrote: Yes, Fiber. -----Original Message----- From: Af [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Chuck McCown via Af Sent: Thursday, November 13, 2014 12:32 PM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [AFMUG] WARNING: Steamy Subject Matter And Fiber....
