Ouch. So instead of using 1 amp at 48VDC, you need 2 amps at 24VDC. Just for that one radio. We've got sites with 4 radios using 1/2 the power of one AF.

the solar battery bank is a 24V system so we have an DC-DC inverter that provides it with a clean 48Vdc

Are you just going right off the batteries so AF takes in ~48-56
    volts?

works great except that the AF5 is a power hog at 50Watts. We
are using the backhaul to burn thru one tree which is why we
chose the AF5. it actually does pretty well considering the nLOS.

Has anyone powered up an AF5 with DC yet? Does this work
for all Airfiber units regardless of band?

for chump change from some of the Bros on the list.

The 5Ghz band is just to chancy for mission
critical backhauls and AF5 chews up your money
                    making spectrum.
